Our School is situated in Bayrampasa, a district of Istanbul. The families of the students have mostly average income level. Most of them are immigrants from Bosnia, Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece and Armenia. The school population represents a wide cross section of social and cultural backgrounds, which is helpful for our project: some of our pupils directly experience the issues of immigration, some of them are also third or fourth generation immigrants who are fully integrated into our society but keep an interest in their forefathers’. Despite having different cultural roots and religions, these people manage to live together in harmony respecting each other’s identity.
Our School highly motivates performances like theatre(Plays), Music chorus (Turkish folk music), chess, publishing a magazine and sports (like wrestling, ping pong, basketball, football etc.) We have been carrying out these activities systematically for years. Sports is popular activity in our school and we are really good at sports. The students at our school got many medals in Istanbul, Turkey and Europe. We are proud of them.
